Volunteer with us
Volunteering with our Scout Group is really flexible – it’s totally up to you what you do, and how often you do it. Here are some of the ways you can get involved…
Work directly with young people
If you’re a people-person who loves sharing knowledge and getting stuck in, there are loads of opportunities to use your skills within our 4 sections.
- Squirrels (aged 4-6)
- Beavers (aged 6-8)
- Cubs (aged 8-10.5)
- Scouts (aged 10.5-14)
Can you run meetings, lead activities, organise events, or inspire a nervous young person to try something new? Working with other volunteers, you’ll plan and deliver challenging, relevant and rewarding activities for young people. Our sections meet once a week during term time, for three terms per year.
Roles include: Leader, Assistant Leader,
If you would like to get involved in the above, but can’t commit to every week, becoming an Occasional Helper might be the right option for you. This includes if you’d just like to help with events like camps or adventures – that’s fine too.
Roles include: Occasional Helper, Parent Helper.
Make things happen behind the scenes
If you’re an organisational wizard who likes to get stuff done (but doesn’t fancy running activities), we’ve lots of behind the scene tasks too. We need help with raising money, arranging events, getting publicity, recruiting young people and adults, maintaining buildings, and general admin. We also have practical things that we’d love your help with, like cutting the grass and maintaining our building. All of this doesn’t involve direct contact with our young people, but is just as important to us.
Roles include: Event Planner, Website Manager, Social Media Manager, Fund Raising Committee… etc.
Become a Trustee
Trustees are a team of volunteers who see the big picture, make decisions, and work together to help Scouts run smoothly. Trustees play a key part in Scouts, and keep an eye on our vision. They make sure young people have the best experience at Scouts, and check things are being done safely and legally. Trustees support leaders to deliver a fantastic programme, while having a laugh, making new friends, and learning new skills themselves. you’re a motivator who can get the best out of people, then we need someone like you to manage and support our volunteer teams. We want to make sure they’re happy, that they understand their role, and that they have what they need to continue being amazing leaders. On joining the team, we’ll provide you with great training opportunities, including an accredited course – always a nice addition to anyone’s CV.
