Membership Subscription
Our membership subscription (“subs”) is currently £60 per school term, per child, payable at the start of term
The Membership Subscription is reviewed annually and was last reviewed in August 2024.
What is the subscription used for?
- Annual National Membership Fee – A fee is payable to National HQ each March for every member of the Group. The membership fee covers the insurance premium for every member, provides for a range of services from National HQ and National and County facilities.
- Contribution to our building running costs – A proportion of the ongoing costs for our building which includes insurance, utilities, water & electric, and maintenance.
- Challenge & Activity Badges – The cost of the badges gained by our members of each section. Each badge costs between 70p and £1.20.
- Section Running Costs – Used to cover the cost of consumables and section specific activities. (e.g. marshmallows, paper, pens, footballs)
- Leader Training, Specialist Skills and Specialist Equipment – The cost of training such as “First Aid” and “Safeguarding”.
- Volunteer discounts – The cost of providing discounts to those parents who volunteer with the group.
Discounts on Member Subscription
All Leaders and helpers work on an entirely voluntary basis. Without their help our group would not exist, and for this reason we are incredibly grateful. As a thank you for making our group possible, we are pleased to offer the following discounts to any parent willing to become a volunteer.
Please note that discounts are reviewed annually and can be withdrawn or amended at any time. Discounts were last reviewed in August 2024.

Section Joining Fee
We charge a joining fee which is applicable to all young people joining a new section. This includes those joining for the first time, and those moving from one section to another, e.g., moving from Cubs to Scouts.
Joining fees cover the cost of:
- Group necker and badges (county, district, and group name tape)
- Group activity t-shirt
- Badge book
New joiners:

If a necker is lost, then a new one can be purchased from a Leader. Small neckers cost £5.90, and large neckers cost £7.30.
