Phoenix Camp - Phoenix Scouts

Well done to the 16 Cubs who attended Phoenix Camp on 29/30 June. The Cubs were faced with lots of new challenges and did amazingly well.

Thank you to the parents for their amazing support, as always. And thank you to the Leaders and Chris (parent helper) who gave up their weekends to run this camp.

Arrivals

First challenge was cooking their own lunch

Heating baked beans on trangia stoves

All Cubs were responsible for their own washing up after lunch

After lunch, the Cubs learnt how to erect their own patrol tents

We had a couple of collapses, but we got there in the end

The Cubs were rewarded with a choice of pizza or fish & chips

After hours of working, they were really hungry

All tents ready to go!

On Sunday, we had an unplanned visit from South Central Ambulance Service ☹️

But once that was resolved, we got ready for our 7km hike….

The Cubs are becoming very capable hikers – acting as great ambassadors of the 11th High Wycombe and remembering their Countryside Code

Once back at camp, we had just enough time to learn how to take down the tents. We will continue to work on our knowledge of tents – a key skill for Cubs.
